 What’s That Song

This week in Te Ngahere we started to make instrumental covers of songs on an app called  Google Music Lab. First we could choose to either get in a pair or work alone, I got into a group with one of my friends and we made the Peppa Pig theme song but first we had to find out what instruments were used and what the speed of the tempo was and record it in a book. After we had to show a teacher our book and then we got to start. The thing I really enjoyed about this was being able to create our own beat, but the only hard thing was putting together the song and knowing which sound to put in.

Have you ever made a cover of a song? Here’s a video of what I made

 What is Mahi Toi

It has been really quiet in class lately because we started a new form of art called Mahi Toi which means art or craft. The WALT this week we are learning is to draw continuous lines, draw curves, rule straight lines, select colours and blend colours for effect. I don’t really enjoy art because I’ve never been good at it but I think it’s good for some career options because some of your jobs you get you might have to draw something.

Do you have a favourite form of art? Also here’s a slide show with the WALT and everything we had to follow on it.

The End of The Project

Yesterday in Te Ngahere we had our last Wonder Project launch there were lots of groups that had to launch. There were around 8-9 groups, the first group that went was Robert  his rocket went around 29.36m, secondly my group came 2nd and beat 2 groups with 18.40m then all these little children came along to watch us launch our rockets. There was a group that made a rocket that went 79.80m I couldn’t believe that their rocket could go that far. The hardest thing was probably making the new fins and after they broke glueing them on again

Have you done the Wonder Project? Also here are some videos of our launches.

 What’s The Measurement

Last week we started learning about measurement. Last week (week 9 term 3) we had to get into groups so we could learn to carry out practical measuring tasks involving length, mass and time. First we had to close our eyes in our group with a stopwatch on and we had to pause it and see how close we were to 1 minute. Then we had to tie something heavy up with string like a stone and then we had to put the stopwatch on again then we had to make the rock swing every second, we did it. Next we cut up some cardboard into a circle with a line, every time it fully rolled it measured 0.5 m so 2 full rolls would be one metre. What I think was hardest was perfectly cutting the circle out of the cardboard and what was easiest was probably trying to get closest to 1 minute but sadly I didn’t.

Have you ever done measurement in maths before? Also here’s a photo of the thing we made or what it looks like at least

 Te Huarere

This week we started Te Huarere which is Maori for the weather. We are learning how to pronounce the weather in Maori. On Monday(9/9/20) we started Te Huarere, it was really fun. First we had to either get into a pair or a group of three. Then we got a stack of cards with pictures of different weather on them and we also got a stack with the names of the weather on them too but there was a twist, all the names were in Maori but luckily before we got the cards we learnt all the names of the weather. Next we got to play a memory game. After we’d matched all the names and the weather, we had to read a book in Maori.

Do you know any Maori words?

 The Big Screening

This week in Te Ngahere we have been making films, because we are going to be choosing 2 movies on Friday for the film festival and 2 of them will go to the finals at Kerikeri Cathay Cinema . Everybody in the class are filming movies. Everybody has  different types of movies. Me and my friends movie is about a monster chasing 2 kids and a mother, the monster ends up breaking into there house and then it tried to grab them but they got away. We haven’t finished our movie yet but we only have 1-2 scenes left until we're finished. What I think was the hardest is remembering the lines, what was easiest for me was running around.  Here’s some

Planning we did --->

Have you ever made a movie?
