Is That Algebra?

This week in Te Ngahere we are learning algebra. Algebra is a type of mathematics that uses letters by also using numbers here’s an example:  so instead of using numbers to make equations in algebra there’s letters too, like this n=12, so n+16 =28. In algebra letters can be anything, it’s very confusing but when you get used to it gets easier . It’s really hard learning algebra because I’ve gotten used to using numbers over letters, numbers are way easier than letters anyway. The only thing easy about algebra is probably the letters can be any number you want it to be.

In Te Ngahere this week we played speed cricket. Firstly our class met a man named Neil he was really fun, then he taught us the stance, how to hold the bat and how to hit the ball. Next we had to buddy up and  pick to be 1 or 2 , I had to be 2 sadly but it was still fun so we got a cricket  bat and three tennis balls. Then we had to start hitting the balls to the buddy that we were with and when the people who were hitting the balls ran out we had to swap over so the people catching were hitting the ball. After all that then we played speed cricket, we got three bats and if the bat or the ball  hit the wickets (sticks in a stick holder) you lose one bat and when you lose all the bats then you have to swap with the other team. The best part about today was probably getting to hit the ball and the worst part was when I missed the ball.

 In The Outdoors

two weeks ago me and my family went camping. We went somewhere named Tapotupotu camping grounds. First we had to drive all the way past Kaitaia which took around 2 hours and then we had to stop at the Pak N Save which also took 40 minutes because my parents had to buy heaps and heaps of food. When we got there we had to set up the tent that we bought it was giant and mildewy and we had to stay in it for the night, it smelt rank but we opened all the curtains so it was all right. After the tent was set up we got to kick a ball from one side to the other side of a beach, it was very boring. Then the tent got finished and we sat inside because it got cold, so we played a card game called monopoly deal. The next day we all went swimming in the creek because the beach was too rough and when we went to the creek it was really shallow. That night we had a fire,  we just put lots of pieces of coal put into a little tin and set on fire it was fun also we got to have smores too. My favourite part about camping was probably making smores but the worst part was the showers were very cold.
